Meet our Doctors
Drs. Phillip & Lynne Roy
Dr. Phillip Roy completed his undergraduate studies at Marquette University before attending the Illinois College of Optometry. Graduating with a Doctor of Optometry degree in 1983, Dr. Phill received recognition and honors for his research and work in Contact Lenses and Clinical Eyecare & Refraction. He completed clinical internships at the Illinois Visually Handicapped Institute and at the Easter Seals Society in Chicago.
Co-founder and Senior Director of Drs. Roy & Associates, Dr. Phill’s superb clinical expertise, combined with a friendly and easy-to-understand manner, have given him a strong and loyal patient following. Throughout the years, he has done extensive work volunteering with Luxottica’s Gift of Sight/OneSight programs, Hometown Day and Vision Van as well as numerous community service and church-based programs. He thoroughly enjoyed the 8+ years of coaching for Elmbrook Little League – with the highlight coming his final year in his team’s winning of both the League and Tournament Championships.
Dr. Phill and his wife, Dr. Lynne, have two sons and enjoy spending free time traveling and relaxing with family and friends. An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Roy also enjoys fishing, boating, and hunting.
Dr. Lynne Roy graduated Magna cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics and Chemistry from Mount Mary College in 1980. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1984, where she graduated with honors and received numerous awards for outstanding scholarship and research in the areas of pediatric and developmental vision. Dr. Roy furthered her training in learning-related vision problems with post-graduate studies in the area of Reading Disabilities at Marquette University.
Co-founder of Drs. Roy & Associates, Dr. Lynne spends much of her time “behind the scenes” as Director of Operations for the practice. While she enjoys working with patients of all ages, her special interest is in Learning-Related Vision Problems – receiving referrals from area educators and specialists. A leader in the optometric profession, Dr. Roy served on the national LensCrafters Optometric Advisory Council from 2003 – 2008. She has traveled extensively, training other doctors, and recently received the National Optometric Leadership Award from LensCrafters as well as being named one of three doctors for the 2007 Optometrist of the Year.
Dr. Lynne has done extensive volunteer work with the Elmbrook Schools, Friends of the Fine Arts, Luxottica’s Gift of Sight/OneSight program, Women for MACC, and assorted church ministries. One of her most rewarding personal and professional challenges came in the fall of 2005 when Dr. Lynne became instrumental in spearheading the effort to provide free eye exams and glasses to over 100+ Hurricane Katrina refugees in Milwaukee.
Dr. Kim Swan
Dr. Kim Swan is a native of Manhattan, Kansas. She attended Kansas State University, earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. She completed her Optometric degree at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, graduating with honors. Dr. Swan completed clinical externships at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City and Shea Vision & Associates in Wichita, Kansas. Before moving to Brookfield, Dr. Swan spent 10 years working with a pediatric ophthalmologist in Kansas City.
Dr. Swan enjoys seeing patients of all ages and has a special interest in children’s eye care. She has fit contact lenses on babies as well as those needing multifocal lenses. She is also involved in the treatment and management of medical eye conditions including dry eye, glaucoma, and red eyes. Dr. Swan strives to respect the unique and individual needs of each of her patients while providing the best eye care services possible. She is committed to educating patients and assisting them in understanding their eye health conditions, their visual needs and the products that allow them the very best vision.
In her free time, Dr. Swan enjoys reading, running and traveling with her husband, Lehi, and two children
Dr. Mary Ellen Teclaw
Dr. Mary Ellen Teclaw is a native of Shorewood, Wisconsin. She attended Purdue University, receiving a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology with an emphasis in Neurobiology and Physiology with a minor in Spanish. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, graduating with clinic honors.
Dr. Teclaws’ clinical experience includes internship rotations at the NSU Eye Care Institute, MacDill Air Force Base 6th Medical Group, and the Orlando VA Medical Center. She has also provided volunteer eye care in St. Mary, Jamaica and at the Special Olympics in Orlando, FL as a member of the Healthy Athletes Opening Eyes Team.
Dr. Teclaw’s primary interests are in Contact Lens Fitting and primary eye care – including the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases such as Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, and Diabetic Retinopathy.
In her free time, Dr. Teclaw enjoys swimming, skiing, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Michelle Kwon
Dr. Michelle Kwon has always had the passion for human biology, health, and patient care from a
very young age. As a pre-medical student at University of Minnesota – Twin Cities after graduating from Beaver Dam High School in Wisconsin, Dr. Kwon explored her interests by double majoring in music and biological sciences. In 2007, she received her Bachelors in piano performance as well as Bachelors in Science in Biology.
Upon her graduation from Illinois College of Optometry, she completed clinical training on various ocular diseases and primary pediatric eye care at Great Lakes Naval Base,
Milwaukee VA hospital, and Vision Therapy Center of Wisconsin. In 2015, she was appointed as a member of Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society, and she
is currently an active member of Wisconsin Optometric Association and American Optometric Association.
Dr. Kwon strongly believes in individualizing treatments and prescriptions for uniqueness of each patient that she encounters in a daily basis while providing the highest quality of eye care. She volunteers with Special Olympics in Oshkosh and Stevens Point and strives to learn from challenging cases. Her other special interests include aging vision, dry eye management and treatment, and scleral contact lens and/or specialty lens fitting.
Dr. Michelle Lewis
Dr. Michelle Lewis received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1994. While at ICO she completed her externships at Chicago’s West Side Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center and Easter Seals Society of Chicago.
Dr. Lewis has cared for patients in the Milwaukee area since 1994, providing comprehensive eye examinations for the whole family. She has extensive experience in family eye care, including dry eye management, contact lens fitting and diagnosis of ocular disease. Over the years she has volunteered for Luxottica’s Hometown Day and Vision Van. She also enjoys volunteering in her children’s schools. Dr. Lewis is a firm believer in patient education and takes the time to listen to her patients in order to best address their visual needs.
In her free time Dr. Lewis values spending time with her husband, their two boys and two dogs. She also enjoys gardening, cooking, and travelling.
